Lou got into immigration because he himself is an immigrant. His immigration law practice is heavily influenced by his personal experience and his sociological imagination, honed through his time in the Philippines, Singapore, France and the United States. Over the years, Lou developed his practice guided by ethics and responsibility, founded on Canadian legal education and training. Lou has guest lectured at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law, Common Law Section. As a staunch Canadian advocate of family reunification, Lou was invited to speak before immigration activists and members of the United States congress and staffers, briefing them on Canada's intricate balancing act between economic and family immigration. He has also appeared on CBC News where he was interviewed and asked to weigh in on Canada's immigration programs. In addition, he has written articles that have appeared on various news sites such as the Globe and Mail and Rappler.

Lou loves to meditatively travel alone and explore the various cultures that the world offers. In his spare time, you can catch him cycling through the Humber River Park Trail in Toronto, Ontario.
