Liam is an Associate in the Business Group at Watson Goepel LLP. His practice focuses on the areas of corporate and commercial law, and civil litigation. Liam assists clients with a variety of transactions, including commercial leases, share and asset purchases, business incorporations, corporate reorganizations, and financings. He has experience negotiating and drafting purchase agreements, service agreements, employment agreements, loan agreements, guarantees and various security documents.

Liam represents clients at court proceedings including debt collections, bankruptcy and insolvency restructurings, injunctions, probate applications, and applications for judicial review.
Prior to articling at Watson Goepel LLP, Liam completed a clerkship at the British Columbia Supreme Court and worked as a legal editor for the largest international commercial law firm in Japan.

Elias practices in all areas of workplace law and civil litigation.

Elias received his Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta (UofA) in 2022. During law school, he represented the UofA in the National Labour Arbitration Moot in his second year, and the National Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Law Moot in his third year, where both of UofA teams made it to the championship round and won the Top Oralist Team award and Top Law School runner up awards. He was a Writing Fellow, assisting in the delivery of the first-year legal research and writing class.

Elias is an advocate for access to justice issues. He was the program coordinator for the UofA’s Pro Bono Students Canada chapter. He also worked closely with Student Legal Services of Edmonton (SLS) throughout law school. At SLS, he worked in the legal education and reform project and later established the Special Initiatives Project, through which he oversaw many pro bono initiatives, including the development of SLS’ Human Rights Project, which provides legal representation to low income parties at the human rights tribunal.

Elias’ previous experience helping underrepresented communities gives him a greater understanding of workplace issues involving diverse employees and allows him to develop creative solutions to those issues.
