During a period of lay-off from Air Canada, he worked at Ontario Hydro as a Project Specialist and Transport Canada as a Civil Aviation Inspector. After being recalled to Air Canada he became involved in union work including helping to found the Air Canada Pilots Association and then taking on increasingly more responsible union roles. While working full-time Phil completed three more degrees, most recently a JD at Osgoode Law School. In 2013 he decided to retire early from his aviation career in order to follow his passion for justice and good works through the practice of law. Phil articled with Koskie Minsky LLP in the pension and labour rotations, and was called to the bar on June 20th, 2014. On January 1st, 2015 he founded PALaw.
